PERIAPICAL CEMENTAL DYSPLASIA. REPORT OF A CASE
E. SPILIOPOULOU, C. DONTA-BAKOYIANNI
SUMMARY Periapical cemental dysplasia is regarded as an intraosseous lesion of the jaws, located most frequently in the periapical region of the incisors, although any tooth may be affected. One of the main features of this lesion is that it is associated with teeth having vital pulps. The etiology of periarical cemental dysplasia is not well understood. The lesion is completely asymptomatic and is usually discovered on routine radiographic surveys. Three stages of development are apparent on radiographic examination. A case of periapical cemental dysplasia which was located in the posterior mandibular teeth is presented in this study. After the final treatment planning, the right mandibular first molar was extracted. The biopsy established the diagnosis of periapical cemental dysplasia.
KEY WORDS: Cemental dysplasia, Cementoosseous dysplasia, Periapical radiolucency-radiopacity.
