N. AFENTOULIDI, A. BALADIMA, P. KARATZAFERI
SUMMARY The purpose of this study is to present the experience which was gained during the last five years in a special dental center. All patients were hospitalized for exacerbational chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and suddenly presented an acute dental problem. During dental procedures all patients were under close observation of their respiratory rate and pattern and with continuous oxygen administration by nasal prongs (<2lt/min). All patients had a good outcome and rare complications were observed (1.92%). History, clinical picture, patho-physiology of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and preoperative evaluation of the patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease are of outmost importance for sufficient management and treatment.
