IMMEDIATE DENTAL TREATMENT OF CROWN FRACTURES IN CHILDHOOD

SUMMARY Crown fractures are the most common results of oral trauma in mixed and young permanent dentition. They often remain without any immediate treatment until symptoms are present. This literature review describe the necessity and the manner of immediate management of crown fractures in the primary, mixed and young permanent dentition. The importance of the medical and dental history of the patient, before and after the trauma, is discussed and the clinical and radiographic evidence related to tooth vitality is analytically reported. The immediate management of crown fractures is described, the necessity of follow up is noted and finally prevention of dental trauma is discussed.
