THE SOCIETY
Establishing
The STOMATOLOGICAL SOCIETY OF GREECE (SSG) is the first Dental Society established in Greece in April 1937 by 19 prominent dentists. It is also the first Greek Dental Society to become a full member of the International Dental Federation (FDI) in 1955. In 1996 the Society has received the Academy of Athens award for its scientific and social achievements.

Headquarters
The SSG headquarters are located in downtown Athens, 17 Kallirrois str., in a private owned apartment. A conference hall with a capacity of 150 attendees, a. library with Greek and international dental books and journals are located in the Society's headquarters.
Membership
Any Greek Dentist living in Greece carying a Degree of Dentistry from any local or recognized Dental School from abroad is eligible to become a full member of the Stomatological Society of Greece.
Dentists practicing abroad are eligible to become
associate members.

Any dentist who wishes to become a member of the SSG is required to submit an Application for Membership to the office of the Society, which needs to be approved by the Board of Executives, during an ordinary Board Meeting.

All of the above mentioned achievements were accomplished through the support, commitment and generosity of the Members of the Stomatological Society of Greece, as well as the leading guidance of the past Presidents, who were internationally acclaimed scientists.
During the 27 consecutive years of Dr. V. Stefanopoulos-Vrettos's presidency, the Society evolved and experienced a great scientiffic thrive. The annual odontostomatological sessions spread the scientific knowledge all over the country in a most effective way. Through the membership of the FDI and the international scientiffic sessions, the Society not only maintained, but also promoted the relations with international academic authorities and institutions.
Activities
In accordance with the constitution of the SSG, Scientific Meetings such as Oral Presentations and Round Tables are organized, as well as Panhellenic and International Congresses.
The Annual Congresses, started in 1964, and ever since take place in different cities all over Greece, always in collaboration with the Local Dental Association.
The 46th Annual Congress took place in Nafplion, September 3-5 2009.
The 47th Annual Congress will take place in Kilkis, September 2-4 2010.
In addition to the above mentioned activities, the SSG publishes the Scientific Journal STOMATOLOGIA.
